Days Are Coming

Drought1“Behold, days are coming,” declares The LORD GOD,
When I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,
But rather for hearing The WORDS of The LORD
People will stagger from sea to sea
And from the north even to the east
They will go to and fro to seek The WORD of The LORD,
But they will not find it.
Amos 8:11-12

Why will The LORD send a famine “for hearing HIS WORDS”? HE sends spiritual famine when people who are called by HIS NAME continually walk in disobedience by making HIM an incidental part of their lives instead of their focus (Rom 1:21-22). They continually receive the warnings through HIS servants, but they ignore them by quickly forgetting the messages (Psa 50:17, Isa 17:10-11, Hos 8:14).
Continually the saddest thing I hear and witness, are people who profess to know GOD, yet have no hunger for HIS WORD. They are too consumed by their lives to attend Church more than once a week, and prefer daily devotions which only contain one or two Scriptures, over BIBLE studies, designed to take them throughout The WORD of GOD.
I have also seen Pastors with a calling to teach GOD’s WORD, not spend consistent time in HIS WORD (Jer 23:28-30). Thus leading congregations of people who do not know GOD, have no understanding of HIS WORD, nor the ability to discern between good and evil (Jer 4:22).
I have met with many sad, angry, broken, and defeated Christians, because they do not know the heart of our Beloved LORD GOD, and have no spiritual armor to withstand the onslaught of the enemy. In every case, as I listened to them, they spent no critical time in the presence of our Beloved LORD GOD. They were not in the habit of praying, studying, or meditating on The WORD of GOD. They had other higher priorities in their lives, and refused to place our Beloved LORD GOD above them. They failed to believe the power and benefits that come from being in HIS presence (Psa 16:11, Psa 119:165, Isa 30:15, 2 Ths 3:16) and hearing HIS WORDS, either privately (1 Sam 28:6, Pro 1:28-31, SS 5:2-6), or publically (Rom 10:16-18).

What caused GOD’s people not to hunger for HIS WORDS? Their lives became prosperous or busy (Deu 31:19-22, Deu 32:15-18, Hos 13:6, Hag 1:2-11).Their false sense of contentment or extreme busyness, lulled them into ignoring The WORDS of The LORD until they face fierce storms of life (Mat 7:24-27). It is then they temporarily seek HIM out, by seeking out HIS servants. But once the storm passes, they quickly forget GOD (Deu 8:11, Jer 3:21-23).

How does “a famine for hearing The WORDS of The LORD” happen? It happens when GOD no longer sends HIS servants to an obstinate people, people who are extremely stubborn. They refuse to listen to HIS servants, or they are determined to have their own way.
When HE stops sending HIS servants, understanding of HIS WORD ceases. We see examples of GOD’s servants giving HIS people understanding of HIS WORD throughout The BIBLE. We see it with the Levities who taught GOD’s people (Neh 8:1-11), with JESUS WHO gives understanding to HIS disciples both then (Jhn 17:6-8, Luk 24:13-27) and now (Rom 8:9-11, 1 Cor 2:11-16, 1 Jhn 5:20), with Philip the Evangelist when he explained Isaiah to the Eunuch (Act 8:26-40), with Peter the Apostle when he explained JESUS to Cornelius and his entire household (Act 10:1-48), with Priscilla and Aquila who brought a more accurate understanding of GOD’s WORD to Apollos (Act 18:24-28), and with all those who have carried The Good News throughout the world (Rom 10:14-15, Tit 1:1-3).

In Conclusion:
I share Isaiah 55:6-7 as a plea with GOD’s people who continually set other priorities in their lives “Seek The LORD while HE may be found; Call upon HIM while HE is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to The LORD, And HE will have compassion on him, And to our GOD, for HE will abundantly pardon.”

I encourage GOD’s people whose souls continually long for HIM (Psa 42:1-2, Psa 63:1, Psa 143:6, Isa 26:9), with The WORDS of our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST, “blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” (Mat 5:6, Jhn 8:37-39, Isa 55:1-2, Rev 21:6, Rev 22:17).

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise.
Making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of The LORD is.
Ephesians 5:15-17

It is Finished

HIS Beloved hand nailed to the cross

Therefore when JESUS had received the sour wine
HE said, “It is finished!”
And HE bowed HIS head and gave up HIS spirit
John 19:30
Heart rate line
I glorified YOU on the earth
Having accomplished the work
Which YOU have given ME to do
John 17:4

What did JESUS mean, when HE said “it is finished!”? HE meant HIS work on the Cross (Tit 2:11-14), HIS accomplishments before the Cross (Jhn 19:28), and HIS triumphs after the Cross (Psa 68:18, Eph 4:8, Col 2:15, 1 Cor 15:20-26, Rev 20:14) were completed.

JESUS CHRIST’s finished work of Salvation on the Cross was redemptive, rescuing, propitiating, and atoning:
HIS redemptive work meant HE paid the price to get us back (Rom 5:12-19). HE set us free by paying the ransom (Mrk 10:45, 1 Tim 2:5-6). HE saved (delivered) us from the slavery of sin and its penalties (Rom 6:23, Col 2:13-14). At HIS first coming our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST, paid the price at the cross to redeem our souls from the slavery of sin (Psa 34:22, Psa 130:8, Jhn 8:34, Eph 1:7, Col 1:14, Heb 9:11-15, 1 Pet 1:18-19), and the curse of the LAW (Gal 3:13, Gal 4:4-5). At HIS second coming, HE will redeem our physical bodies (Luk 21:28, Rom 8:23, Eph 4:30). The mortal and perishable, will put on immortality and imperishability (1 Cor 15:53-54).

HIS rescuing work as used in Col 1:13, meant HE forcibly took legal custody over our souls from Satan and his demonic hosts (Luk 11:20-22). And took captive our captors (Eph 4:8, Col 2:15).

HIS propitiating work meant through HIS sacrifice of HIMSELF HE made peace for us with GOD our FATHER (Rom 3:25, Heb 2:17, 1 Jhn 2:2, 1 Jhn 4:10). Only HIS sinless life could satisfy the requirements for peace (2 Cor 5:21, Heb 4:15, 1 Pet 2:21-22, 1 Jhn 3:5).

HIS atoning work meant once HIS blood covered over our sins (Rom 4:7-8), HE reconciled us with GOD (Rom 5:10-11, 2 Cor 5:18-21, Col 1:20-22). Atonement means to reconcile, pass over, or cover. And though the word “atonement”(or a variation of it) is used more than 91 times in the Old Testament, it is found only once in the New Testament, and only in the King James translation (Rom 5:11). And yet our Beloved’s atoning work is found throughout the New Testament with the words “reconcile”, “passed over”, and “cover”.

What did our Beloved JESUS CHRIST accomplish before HE went to The Cross? Isaiah prophesied about the work our Beloved JESUS CHRIST would accomplish before the cross in Isaiah 61:1-2, when he said:

The Spirit of The LORD GOD is upon ME
Because The LORD has anointed ME
To bring good news to the afflicted
HE has sent ME to bind up the brokenhearted
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners
To proclaim the favorable year of The LORD
And the day of vengeance of our GOD
To comfort all who mourn

Twice, JESUS confirmed this prophecy about HIMSELF. When HE spoke one Sabbath in the synagogue in Nazareth where HE grew up (Luk 4:14-21), and when HE responded to the question John the Baptist sent to HIM by his disciples (Mat 11:1-5).

During our Beloved JESUS CHRIST’s earthly ministry, HE accomplished all ABBA FATHER sent HIM to do (Jhn 17:4). Indeed GOD’s Holy SPIRIT was upon HIM (Mat 12:15-19, Jhn 3:34, Act 10:38):
    1) HE preached The Gospel to the poor or afflicted (Mat 4:23, Mrk 1:14-15, Luk 20:1)
    2) HE proclaimed liberty to the captives (2 Tim 2:26, Jhn 8:31-36, Luk 19:1-10)
    3) HE gave sight to the blind (Mat 9:27-31, Mrk 10:46-52, Luk 7:22)
    4) HE set free the oppressed (Mat 17:14-18, Mrk 5:1-13, Luk 13:10-17)
   5) HE proclaimed the favorable year of The LORD, or announced the time had arrived when GOD The FATHER would accept men made righteous through JESUS CHRIST (Isa 49:8, Mrk 1:14-15, 2 Cor 6:2, Gal 4:4-7)
    6) HE proclaimed The day of vengeance of our GOD (Mat 11:21-24, Mat 16:27, Luk 19:41-44, Luk 21:20-22)
    7) HE comforted all those who mourned (Mat 5:1-11, Luk 6:20-23, Jhn 16:16-22)
Additionally, from HIS conception to HIS resurrection, HE fulfilled prophetic WORD of GOD (Mat 5:17-18, Mat 26:51-56, Luk 18:31-33, Luk 22:37↔Isa 53:12, Mrk 15:27-28, Luk 23:32-43; Jhn 15:18-25, Jhn 19:24↔Psa 22:18; Jhn 19:33-37; Act 2:22-32↔Psa 16:8-11).

The Accomplishments of our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST continue…

Our children and their children will get in on this. As the word is passed along, from parent to child. Babies not yet conceived, will hear The Good News — that GOD does what he says.
Psalm 22:30-31 (The Message translation)

Sanctify them in the truth; YOUR WORD is truth.
As YOU sent ME into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
For their sakes I sanctify MYSELF, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.
I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in ME through their word.
John 17:17-20

Prophecies continue to be fulfilled

This Gospel of The Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations. And then the end will come
Matthew 24:14

Global Summary: Several global missionary organizations reported, “As of September 1, 2019, The Gospel has been preached in 58.4% of the world.” This means that 41.6%, are still unreached (unreached people, have no believing Christians living among them to share The Good News of JESUS CHRIST). And when you compare the reporting of the global missionary organizations, to the announcement made by the United Nations on the same day, “the estimated world population (total number of humans currently living) is 7.67 billion.” That means, 3.19 billion people are still unreached.

We have all been called to build up the body of CHRIST (Eph 4:11-12), are you doing your part?

Always Being Ready to Make a Defense

Always being ready to make a defense

Often in teaching The WORD of GOD and preaching The Gospel of JESUS CHRIST, we face various responses. There are those who really want to know, others who are skeptical, and finally those who outright oppose both the messenger and the message.

But regardless of the response, our Beloved LORD GOD has called us to walk in a certain manner, as described in 1 Peter 3:15. We are called to:
1) Sanctify CHRIST as LORD in our hearts means to treat HIM holy, by honoring and respecting HIM as The ONE WHO has authority over us (Luk 6:46, Mal 1:6). Honoring and respecting HIM is not just with lip service (Isa 29:13), but from our innermost beings (Psa 51:6).
2) Always being ready to make a defense means to be ready at any time to give a reasonable explanation. To be able to do this, there must be trust and reliance on The LORD (Mat 10:19-20). This level of trust and reliance comes only from having a relationship with HIM so personal, that you meet HIM every day just to talk (prayer), thank HIM (worship), and receive instruction from HIM (study of The BIBLE).
3) To everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you means to anyone who questions why you believe and live as you do. It is important here to pay careful attention to the word “asks” or “questions”. You are responding to someone who truly desires to know, not to those who only want to make their beliefs known, nor to those who are not willing to listen, nor even to those who want to argue (Mat 7:6, Mrk 8:11-13, 2 Tim 2:14, 2 Tim 2:23, Tit 3:9).
4) Yet with gentleness and reverence means you should speak in a manner that is courteous to the hearer and honoring to GOD (Pro 15:1, Pro 15:18, Gal 6:1, Col 4:6, 2 Tim 2:24-25).

By obediently conducting ourselves according to 1 Peter 3:15, our conscience will remain clear, even when falsely accused. Our godly behavior will refute the accusations being made (1 Pet 3:13-16).

Cursed be the one who does The LORD’s work negligently

Cursed be the one who does The LORD's work negligently 2Cursed be the one who does The LORD’s work negligently
And cursed be the one who restrains his sword from blood
Jeremiah 48:10

The message from our Beloved LORD GOD in Jeremiah 48:10 is a powerful message. And this message is just as relevant to us today, as it was when it was given to Jeremiah over 2,500 years ago (Rom 15:4). Furthermore, this message is for both those serving in ministry, as well as those sitting in a pew.

The Backstory of Jeremiah 48:10
The Moabites were first cousins to the Israelites. The children of Israel were Abraham’s great-grandchildren, and the Moabites were the great-grandchildren of his brother Haran. Because these two nations were family, when the children of Israel wandered in the desert because of their unbelief, our Beloved LORD GOD did not let them harass or provoke their cousins to war (Deu 2:9, Jug 11:12-18). Moab returned Israel’s kindness by considering Israel an enemy and treating them as such (1 Sam 14:47-48, Psa 83:1-8). And when Judah fell into the hands of Babylon, Moab didn’t mourn instead they rejoiced and spoke against both them and GOD, saying “Judah was no different than any other heathen nation” (Eze 25:8-11). Implying Israel’s GOD was no different than idols of heathen nations, and HIS people weren’t any different. This act of hostility, in addition to their excessive pride brought a judgment of destruction and desolation upon them (Isa 16:6, Jer 48:7-9, Jer 48:26, Jer 48:42).

GOD’s Forewarning
GOD’s declared destruction and desolation against Moab, was so definitive that HE forewarned those nations appointed to carry out HIS judgment, “negligence in carrying out HIS judgment brought a curse.” You might be wondering how such a loving GOD would make what appears to be such a harsh statement. We must first remind you that our GOD is holy (perfect, pure, untainted by evil or sin) so HE is not vindictive. HE is just (fair, impartial, righteous, upright and reasonable), and HIS decisions are always well-grounded. We will look at two examples, where our Beloved GOD’s judgment seemed harsh, if additional information had not been provided through The Scriptures:
1) King Saul and the Amalekites. During the time when the children of Israel were leaving the harsh life and severe bondage of Egypt, the nation of Amalek attacked the most vulnerable Israelites from the rear. The Israelites in the rear, were stragglers, because they were faint and weary. The Amalekites showed no fear of GOD when they attacked HIS people who could not protect themselves (Deu 25:17-19). As a result our Beloved LORD GOD had Moses stop the trek toward Mt. Sinai, and send Joshua and the fighting men out to overwhelmingly defeat the Amalekites, to stop their picking off the weak and weary Israelites (Exd 17:8-13). Our GOD further declared “the memory of Amalek would be utterly blotted out from under the heaven” (Exd 17:14-16). When the first King of Israel (King Saul) was anointed, he was given orders to exterminate Amalek as GOD has promised (1 Sam 15:1-35). But he performed his duty negligently, leaving the job to be completed by King David, the second King of Israel (1 Sam 30:11-18), and by Simeon’s descendants, a tribe of Israel (1 Chr 4:24-43).
2) The prophet Ezekiel, was grieving about the destruction of the holy city Jerusalem, but our Beloved LORD GOD comforted him by revealing the reasons why. HE showed Ezekiel the conduct and actions of escapees from Jerusalem (Eze 14:12-23), where not even one righteous man could be found to stop the destruction (Jer 5:1).

What does GOD mean by “curse” in Jeremiah 48:10? HE means to bring harm (Prv 12:21), misfortune (Jer 5:11-18), sorrow (Eze 23:25-35), anguish (Eze 7:23-27), misery and distress (Psa 107:10-21) against.

What does GOD mean by “negligently” in Jeremiah 48:10? The English word “negligently” was transliterated from the Hebrew word “remiyah” (7423) and it has two meanings. The first is to be deceitful, false, to have guile. The second is to be careless, remiss, indifferent, lax, slack, and slothful. I dug further to see how these two different meanings could be related, and our Beloved LORD GOD led me to the following information from the Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon:
1) a letting down or relaxing of the hands, indolence; to be slack, a remiss hand (Pro 12:24); idle (Pro 10:4), negligently (Jer 48:10)
2) deception, fraud; a fraudulent tongue (Psa 120:2-3); a deceitful bow, one which shoots unruly (Hos 7:16); deceptive archers, who deceive by a false flight (Psa 78:57)
The first definition from the Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon, confirms the usage of the word “negligently” in Jer 48:10 as careless, remiss, indifferent, lax, slack, slothful, a letting down or relaxing of the hands, indolent. If you go back to 1 Samuel 15:1-31, and study King Saul’s behavior closely, you will find he was guilty of both definitions. He didn’t follow GOD’s word fully and then he lied about it. So King Saul was both negligent and deceitful.

How does one today “negligently” do GOD’s work? One negligently does GOD’s work when they:
1) forget WHOM they are truly serving (Pro 19:17, Mat 25:34-40, 1 Tim 1:12, Heb 6:10)
2) do not serve The LORD with a glad heart (Deu 28:47-48, Ecc 3:12-13, Php 4:4, 1 Ths 5:16)
3) become stagnant in spirit, doubting the truth of GOD’s WORD (Zep 1:12, Eze 9:9)
4) become weary of following GOD’s commands (Mic 6:3, Gal 6:7-9, 2 Ths 3:13) or weary of their calling (Isa 43:22-24, Zec 11:8, Mal 1:6-7)
5) feel that obeying or serving HIM is tiresome (Jer 18:11-12, Mal 1:13, Mal 3:14)
6) become cheerless in their service (1 Sam 2:12-17, 1 Cor 9:17↔Col 1:25, 2 Cor 9:6-15)

Why does one become “negligent” in doing GOD’s work? When one becomes lukewarm in their walk with GOD, they become lukewarm in their service to GOD (Rev 3:14-22). When one’s earthly interests become greater than their spiritual interests, they lose interest in the things of GOD because they are so tied up with things in their everyday life (2 Tim 2:3-4). Both their hearts and their interests are divided (Psa 133:1↔Php 2:2-4, Luk 16:13, 1 Cor 7:32-35).

Is being lukewarm sin? Yes, to be lukewarm means to be lacking in conviction for GOD or the things of GOD. When one lacks conviction, they no longer follow HIS command to stand firm in their belief (1 Cor 15:1-2, 1 Cor 16:13, 1 Ths 3:8); they are not diligent in their faith (1 Pet 1:1-11, 2 Pet 3:14); and they lack assurance (Heb 3:12-14, Heb 11:1). Our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST tells us whatever is not from faith is sin (Rom 14:23, Heb 11:6).

Are the other ways to confirm being lukewarm? Yes, lukewarm people continue to talk about GOD, but their heart no longer belongs to HIM (Isa 29:13, Psa 50:16-21); they follow the teachings of men, rather than the commandments of GOD (Matt 15:9, Mrk 7:1-23); they profess to know GOD but their beliefs and lifestyle deny HIM (Tit 1:16, Rom 2:17-24); deny HIS SON as The only way to salvation (Jhn 14:6, 1 Jhn 2:22-23); and deny HIS WORD by refusing to accept it as truth (Isa 30:9-11, 2 Ths 2:10-13, 2 Tim 4:3-4). Lukewarm people refuse to know GOD’s WORD, as they prefer to live the lifestyle they choose (Jer 7:24-26, Psa 81:11-13); they despise authority (2 Pet 2:10, Jud 1:8); they are arrogant, feeling they have everything they need (Rev 3:17).

What does Jeremiah 48:10 mean “and cursed be the one who restrains his sword from blood”? The sword is both an offensive (used to attack or harm) and defensive (used to defend or protect) weapon used in war. It can be physical (Exd 32:25-29, SS 3:8, Jer 47:6-7, Jhn 18:10-11), spiritual (Hos 6:5, Eph 6:17, Heb 4:12, Rev 2:16, Rev 19:13-15), or figurative (Job 5:15, Psa 57:4, Pro 12:18, Isa 49:2). Our Beloved LORD GOD called King Ahab of Israel to use a physical sword, by going to war and destroying one of Israel’s deadliest enemies and it’s King (Syria and King Ben-hadad). But King Ahab, decided to let him go (1 Kin 20:1-34). As a result our Beloved LORD GOD sent HIS prophet to King Ahab to tell him, GOD would destroy him and his people, because like King Saul he chose to follow his own will instead of GOD’s (1 Kin 20:35-43).

How does “and cursed be the one who restrains his sword from blood” apply to us today? Today our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST call us to use a spiritual sword (HIS WORD – Heb 4:12), when HE sends us to someone(s) with a message (Eze 33:7-9, Act 20:2-27). If we choose not to give the message because it seems too harsh, or we choose to only give positive messages (2 Tim 4:3). The LORD JESUS CHRIST will judge our disobedience and hold us responsible for the soul we chose not to warn (Eze 3:16-21).

MY son, do not reject the discipline of The LORD
Or loathe HIS reproof
For whom The LORD loves HE reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights
Proverbs 3:11-12

Producing Fruit

A tree and garden grow out of the pages of the Bible

In Galatians 5:22-23, our Beloved LORD GOD tells us the fruit of The SPIRIT is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. For many years I tried to live this fruit in my life. But the more determined I became, the more I failed. Finally, in the midst of my failures, through tears and frustration, I cried out to my Beloved LORD GOD. HE graciously heard my cry and mercifully showed me:
1) Apart from HIM, I can do nothing (Jhn 15:5). I could not redeem myself, I could not save myself, and I cannot transform myself. Instead of seeking after fruit, seek after HIM (Psa 27:8, Isa 55:6, Luk 11:9-13).
2) The “fruit of The SPIRIT” is the visible expression of the invisible HOLY SPIRIT of GOD. Which means, spiritual fruit in my life, is the evidence of HIM living and working within me; HIS character is reflected in my behavior. As I continually abide in HIS WORD through study and obedience, living every day in trust and dependency on HIM, HE will transform me into HIS image (2 Cor 3:18).
3) We each have a job in our walk together, HIS is salvation, sanctification and transformation. Mine is listening, trusting and obeying. HE is so awesome! HE even helps me do my job! All I have to do is ask for obedience (Psa 19:13, Psa 119:133, Psa 119:66, Psa 143:8, Psa 143:10), and understanding (Psa 119:34, Psa 119:125).

So how a person both conducts them self and speaks is a reflection of the spirit that lives within them. (Luk 6:43-45, Jhn 8:44, 1 Jhn 2:3-6). It is so important to carefully note that the word “conduct” is used. For the assessment of the state of one’s spiritual life, is not in what one claims or professes, but in what they do, how they are.

Is your life fruitful? Are you filled with love, joy, and peace? Is your anger, irritation or tongue under control? Do those who live with you and those who know you best, feel you are loving, patient, kind, faithful and gentle? Do they see the goodness of The LORD in you?

If not, stop and take this moment to seek both HIS forgiveness and change (1 Jhn 1:9). And then both seek the forgiveness of those on the receiving end of your conduct (behavior); and commit to praying with and for them and yourself (Jam 5:16).

Humble yourselves in the presence of The LORD, and HE will exalt you.
James 4:10

How GOD Makes our Faith Greater Than our Fear (Part 5 – Fixing our eyes on JESUS)

Fixing our Eyes on JESUS

Fixing our eyes on JESUS, the author and perfecter of faith
Who for the joy set before HIM endured the cross, despising the shame
And has sat down at the right hand of the throne of GOD
Hebrews 12:2 (NASB translation)

In this fifth part of our study in Hebrews 12:1-3, we will examine what it means to fix our eyes on JESUS (Heb 12:2),

What does it mean to “fix our eyes on JESUS”? It literally means to turn your eyes away from other things, so as to see another; to concentrate your gaze upon; to give careful attention to. As an example, have you ever spotted movement on a floor? And you ignore everything else in the room except the area of the movement on the floor. It is only then that you spot a very small ant crawling across the floor. We are called to give our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST that same careful attention in our lives, by turning our focus from everything in our lives, and concentrating upon HIM (Col 3:1-3).

How is this possible? It begins by setting your mind on a time to just focus on HIM (Psa 63:1, Psa 130:6, 1 Chr 16:11), through prayer, study of HIS WORD, and worship. During that time you close yourself off to all else, to meet exclusively with HIM. You close yourself off in the same manner as when you are in meetings, classrooms, or bathrooms.

What if my life is too busy right now? Then you are already going in the wrong direction. If HE is not in your sight, then HE is at your back (1 Kin 14:9, Neh 9:26, Psa 50:17, Jer 32:33). There are several things you should consider about turning your back on HIM:
 1)    You are forgetting GOD (Deu 32:18). The transitive verb “forget” means to treat with thoughtless inattention; neglect; to banish from one’s thoughts. When your life is so busy that you don’t have time to remember and honor The ONE WHO has given all the blessings in your life (Psa 5:12, Psa 67:6-7, Pro 10:22), you have forgotten, and all your own efforts will become vanity (Psa 127:1-2, Ecc 5:10, Hag 1:1-11).
 2)    You don’t know what the future holds (Pro 27:1, Jam 4:13-16). With one sudden disaster all your busyness is over (Ecc 8:7, Pro 29:1, Pro 6:15, 1 Ths 5:3).
 3)    You don’t know the day of your death (Gen 27:2, Ecc 9:12). In the midst of all your plans, your soul could be required of you (Ecc 8:8, Luk 12:13-21).
 4)    You are sinning, or doing evil by not seeking The LORD GOD (2 Chr 12:14). You are forsaking HIM (2 Chr 24:20, Jer 15:6), for what you consider more important (Jer 2:13).

Won’t GOD understand, if I am busy dealing with things beyond my control? With love, our Beloved LORD GOD would want you to know, HE is keenly aware of every aspect of your life (Job 34:21, Psa 139:1-5, Mat 6:31-32, Mat 10:30, Heb 4:13). But if you will trust HIM, to love HIM above everything (Mat 22:34-38, Jhn 14:15), by being obedient to seek HIM on a daily basis (Pro 8:34; Luk 11:3↔Jhn 1:1, Jhn 6:1, Jhn 6:48; Psa 105:4). Then HE will honor your sacrifice by blessing every part of your life (Deu 28:1-13, Deu 30:8-10).

Then JESUS said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after ME, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow ME. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for MY sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Matthew 16:24-26

Because Lawlessness is Increased

lawlessness increased 2As I reflected on Matthew 24:12, I wondered three things:
1) What is lawlessness?
2) Why would the increase of lawlessness cause most people’s love to grow cold?
3) Who specifically are these people who love less?

Lawlessness Defined
Lawlessness is sin (1 Jhn 3:4). It is intentional and deliberate disobedience to the known will of GOD (Jam 4:17, Num 15:30-31, Heb 6:4-6). It is a defiant response after receiving knowledge of the truth (Isa 22:12-14, Jer chptrs 42-44). It is a sin committed by one, who does not even struggle to do what is right or keep from doing wrong. With this sin there is no forgiveness only judgment (Heb 10:26-27), which leads to death (1 Jhn 5:16-17, Rev 20:11-15, Rev 21:8).

Reasons lawlessness affects the love of many
In these last days, the hearts of men will grow exceedingly wicked (2 Tim 3:1-7), just as they did in the days of Noah (Gen 6:5-6, Gen 6:11) and in the days of Lot (Gen 13:13, Gen 18:20, Gen 19:1-11). These men are comprised of unbelievers, outside the Church; and professing believers within the Church. These are men, who call good evil, and evil good (Isa 5:20); they defend the wicked and condemn the righteous (Pro 17:15); they tell wicked men “you are righteous” (Pro 24:24); for a bribe, they corroborate the wicked, and take away the rights of the innocent (Isa 5:23).

Wicked men outside the Church, openly hate GOD (Psa 68:1, Jhn 15:18, Jhn 15:24-25) and HIS people (Psa 37:32, Jhn 15:19, Jhn 17:14). These men have always caused GOD’s people to suffer, but in these last days, as the wickedness of men increase so will their hatred. They will cause the trials, tribulations and persecutions of GOD’s people to be more severe, and occur with greater frequency. Many who once followed after GOD, will openly desert the faith (Mat 24:9-10), rather than endure affliction (Job 36:21).

Wicked men inside the Church, will profess to know GOD, but their lifestyles will confirm they do not (Mat 7:15-20, Tit 1:16, 1 Jhn 2:3-6). Some of these false believers, will hold leadership positions within the Church, while others will be content to just be among the congregation. The false teachers and false prophets will mislead many by corrupting The WORD, with their false doctrines (Mat 24:11-12, 1 Tim 4:1), while others will continue in self-pleasing lifestyles rather than obedience to GOD (Eze 33:31-32, Mrk 6:17-20, 2 Ths 2:10-12).

People who love less
These are people who once loved our Beloved JESUS CHRIST and HIS WORD dearly, as demonstrated by their behavior (Jhn 14:15, Jhn 14:21, Jhn 14:23-24). They studied HIS WORD daily, being careful not to turn aside or stray from it (Deu 17:18-20, Jos 1:7-8, Pro 8:34, Mat 6:11). They gladly attended Church, always there when the doors opened (Psa 42:1-4, Psa 84:1-2, Psa 122:1) they were hungry for GOD and HIS WORD (Psa 119:131, Isa 2:3, Mat 5:6). That is until affliction, persecution, worries of this world, deceitfulness of money (Mat 13:20-22, 1 Tim 6:17) and the love of the things in this world (2 Tim 4:10, 1 Jhn 2:15-17), caused them to love HIM less (Rev 3:15-20). Some stopped loving HIM at all (Mat 24:12).

If you are reading this and alarms are going off in your heart, because you know you are willfully sinning (practicing lawlessness); or your love for HIM has declined in intensity. There is still hope, for your heart can still feel the alarms. It is no coincidence that this BIBLE study came to you at this time. It is HIS love for you (Jer 31:3), and HIS heart that does not desire for your soul to be forever lost (2 Pet 3:9). Please respond to HIS drawing you, by humbling yourself and accepting the fact, you are not your own boss (1 Cor 6:19-20). Talk to HIM, admitting your wrong doing (1 Jhn 1:9); seek HIS presence (Psa 63:1, Psa 143:6) through BIBLE study (Psa 119:20, Psa 119:30); worship (Psa 95:1-7); and assembling with godly people (Heb 10:25). Turn your back on your sinful lifestyle (Eze 18:30-32, Eze 33:11-13). HE longs to restore (Psa 19:7, Psa 23:3), refresh (Jer 31:25, Act 3:19), renew (Psa 51:10, Eph 4:23-24), and heal you (2 Chron 7:14).

For we will surely die
And are like water spilled on the ground which cannot be gathered up again
Yet GOD does not take away life
But plans ways so that the banished one will not be cast out from HIM
2 Samuel 14:14

How GOD Makes our Faith Greater Than our Fear (Part 4 – And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us)

run-with-enduranceTherefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us
Let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us
And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us
Hebrews 12:1 (NASB translation)

In this fourth part of our study in Hebrews 12:1-3, we will examine what it means to run with endurance (Heb 12:1), and how JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF will teach you to run and not get tired (Isa 40:31).

What does it mean to run? The English phrase “let us run” (NT:5143) in Hebrews 12:1, is transliterated from the Greek word “tréchō” and means swiftness in an effort to attain an end (not lagging behind – Rom 12:11); persevering in a course with a view to obtaining the reward (JESUS as our example – WHO for the joy set before HIM, endured the cross, Heb 12:2, Rom 12:2); to move easily and freely without hindrance or restraint (Gal 5:7).

What is endurance? It is the ability to withstand hardship or adversity; the capacity to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity. In this study we are not going to be looking at endurance from the standpoint of the act of withstanding or sustaining; instead we are going to look at endurance from ability or capacity, which is the quality or state of patience.

Patience is the will or ability to endure without complaining. Patience brings:
• a calmness to various situations (Psa 37:7, Psa 46:10, Psa 62:5)
• a willingness or ability to tolerate delay (Psa 123:2, Isa 40:31, Jam 5:11)
• self-control when steadfastness and perseverance is required (1 Cor 9:24-27, 2 Pet 1:6, 2 Tim 2:1-5)

Our patience in trusting our Beloved LORD GOD will achieve more than our own efforts to push through (1 Sam 2:9, Zec 4:6). Please take to heart, the “ability to withstand” and the “capacity to sustain” work together to produce endurance. Just as patiently trusting our Beloved LORD GOD while remaining obedient (Php 2:12). As an example, you are suffering through mistreatment, yet you remain obedient, by praying, loving, and forgiving (Luk 6:27-28, Mat 18:21-35), while patiently enduring the mistreatment (1 Pet 2:20). Your patience is working with your obedience, causing you to endure.

Please explain further the difference between withstanding or sustaining, and ability or capacity. Let’s look at seasoned runners. These runners know that there are two aspects of running, physical and mental. A runner will never excel in the physical if they can’t overcome the mental. The mental drives the physical. Ability drives withstanding, as capacity drives sustaining. You will never get going, or stay with it, if your mind does not kick in. Going on the run, starts with the decision to go, followed immediately with thoughts to discourage you from going. But you must set your mind to run, and ignore all discouraging thoughts.

Taking this very example, we will consider the two aspects to every Christian’s race, obedience and trust. In comparison to the running analogy, obedience is the physical; trust is the mental. When someone doesn’t completely trust The LORD GOD and HIS WORD, they will not fully obey HIM. King Saul was called to wait until the prophet Samuel arrived, but his lack of trust in Samuel’s timing, brought foolish disobedience (1 Sam 10:8, 1 Sam 13:1-14). We must stay alert and prayerful, so we will continue to trust our Beloved LORD GOD. Not being tempted to quit the race set before us (Matt 26:41, 1 Pet 5:8-9). We must set our eyes and hearts on The ONE WHO can strengthen us, and gives us the ability to finish, or remain obedient to the very end (Zec 10:12, 2 Ths 3:3, 1 Pet 5:10).

What is the race that has been set before us? Although the Greek word “agōn” (NT:73) was transliterated into the English word “race” according to Thayer’s Greek Lexicon, it actually means any struggle with, dangers; annoyances; obstacles which stand in the way of faith, holiness, or a desire to spread the gospel. The race set before us is our Christian walk, it should be a steady onward movement, regardless of the struggles or battles.

When we were rescued through salvation, from the authority of Satan, and transferred into The Kingdom of CHRIST (Col 1:13), the spiritual battles with the enemies of our soul began (Eph 6:10-12). But our Beloved LORD JESUS prepared us for battle. HE gave us, HIS soldiers (2 Tim 2:3-5):
The strategic plan needed to effectively fight the battles, and accomplish specific goals (1 Kin 2:3, 2 Tim 3:16, Rom 15:4)
The proper battle gear (Eph 6:13-18, 2 Cor 6:7, 2 Cor 10:3-6)
The POWER (2 Cor 4:7, Rom 8:9-11) and reinforcement (Jhn 14:16, Jhn 14:26, Jhn 16:13) needed for victory
Encouragement, through HIS promise to never abandon us (Mat 28:20, Heb 13:5-6)
Forewarning that the battle would be fierce (2 Tim 3:12, Act 14:22, 1 Ths 3:2-5)
Assurance of victory (1 Jhn 5:4-5, Rev 12:11, Rev 14:12), that would be decisive (Rom 8:37, 1 Cor 15:57)

Is there anything else I should consider in completing my race? There are several things:
You are not like GOD (Gen 3:5). Humble yourself as a child (Mat 18:1-4) by exhibiting trust in HIS WORD, openness to HIS Will, and eagerness to obey HIM. Do not lean on your own understanding (Pro 3:5-8).
You can do nothing apart from HIM (Jhn 15:5) all your abilities and strength are through HIM (Php 4:13).
You must know that CHRIST JESUS alone has already won the battle (Col 2:13-15, Zep 3:17). The battles with your flesh is for sanctification (Rom 6:19, 1 Ths 4:1-7, 2 Ths 2:13, Heb 12:14); battles with spiritual wickedness reveal the source of your strength (Eph 6:10, Exd 15:2-3, Psa 18:1-3, Isa 12:2, Hab 3:18-19); and teach you to stand firm in our Beloved LORD GOD and HIS WORD (Eph 6:11-13, Jam 4:7, 1 Pet 5:8-9).
You must trust HIM at all times (Psa 62:8, Isa 26:4, Isa 50:10, Heb 11:6).
You must be willing to patiently wait on HIM (Psa 25:15, Psa 40:1, Psa 130:5-6, Isa 25:9).
Never forget that JESUS is your example for running the race set before you (1 Pet 2:21-23). During HIS earthly ministry, HE did what HE is calling us to do, fully trust and obey (Jhn 8:29, Heb 5:7-9).

Trust in The LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding
In all your ways acknowledge HIM
And HE will make your paths straight
Do not be wise in your own eyes
Fear The LORD and turn away from evil
It will be healing to your body
And refreshment to your bones
Proverbs 3:5-8

Take Heed to Your Ministry

prayerful study shadowSay to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in The LORD,
that you may fulfill it.”
Colossians 4:17

Archippus was a Christian minister of a house church in Colossae (Phn 1:2), whom the Apostle Paul urged to earnestly take heed to the ministry which our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST had given him, that he may fulfill or complete it.

Today, our Beloved LORD JESUS is earnestly urging each one of us, to take heed to the ministry which HE has given us for building up HIS body (Eph 4:11-16).

What if I don’t have a ministry? Just as every single part of the human body serves a purpose within the body, every single Christian who is part of the body of CHRIST JESUS has a ministry (aka purpose, particular service, calling, responsibility). As demonstrated in 1 Cor 12:12-31. For someone who says, I don’t have a ministry, but I do love to pray. If you are praying for the saints, for the lost, for the backslidden, for the hurting, for the persecuted, for the pastors, for the teachers, for the evangelists, for the message, for the Church… for no other reason than you felt GOD put it in your heart to pray. Then your ministry is intercessory prayer. You intercede (or speak) with our Beloved LORD GOD on behalf of others or circumstances. You stand in the gap (Eze 22:30). Your ministry though seen by GOD alone, touches many lives. Your ministry is a high calling, which is necessary for the body of CHRIST (Eph 6:18). And though your prayers are unseen by others (Mat 6:6-8), in this calling, you join; our Beloved LORD & SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST (Rom 8:34, Heb 7:24-25, Heb 9:24); The Holy SPIRIT of GOD (Rom 8:26-27); the prophets of old (Exd 32:11-14, Num 21:7-9, Jer 42:1-4, Dan 9:1-23); the apostles (Act 1:13-14, Act 6:2-4); and the saints throughout the ages (1 Kin 8:22-54, Neh 1:1-11, Dan 2:1-23, Act 1:12-14, 1 Ths 5:17, 1 Jhn 5:16). For others who still do not believe they have a particular ministry, ask our Beloved ABBA FATHER what is your purpose in the body of CHRIST.

What does it mean to “take heed”? It means to pay close attention to; to take careful notice of; to turn your thoughts to; to thoroughly consider. As you are carefully consider your ministry, here are three questions you might ask yourself, and our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST:
Who are you serving in your calling? HIM (Psa 100:1-5, Jhn 4:34, Jhn 5:30, Jhn 6:38, Col 3:23-24), HIS people (Act 20:28, Pro 27:23, 2 Cor 11:28-29), or yourself (Eze 34:1-10, Mal 1:11-14). Just a closing thought; know when you serve HIS people, you serve HIM (Pro 19:17, Mat 25:35-40, Act 9:1-5, Eph 6:7, Heb 6:10).
Is serving HIM and HIS people your priority? Do you protect your schedule for GOD, at the same level you protect those things you are invested in? (Psa 84:1-4, Psa 122:1, Isa 58:13-14, Amo 8:4-7, Mic 6:3, Mal 3:13-14)
Are you feeding HIS people from The WORD? Are you honoring GOD and HIS WORD, or are you honoring someone or something else? Our GOD is SPIRIT and those who serve HIM, must serve HIM in spirit and truth (Jhn 4:23-24). Those who feed HIS people must nourish them spiritually (on HIS WORD alone ‒ Jer 3:15, 1 Pet 2:2, Heb 5:11-14). Anything else, should only be used to clearly explain the meaning of The WORD being taught, helping the hearers to understand each passage (Neh 8:5-8). If you are teaching from anything other than The BIBLE (Rom 15:4, 2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:20), you are not providing even the slightest benefit to those who listen (Jer 23:21-22, Pro 19:16).

If you have been experiencing a tug at your heart, as you have gone through this study; I pray you would stop and take a moment, and talk with our Beloved LORD GOD. Ask HIM specifically about the questions that have come up in your heart.

Our Beloved LORD GOD literally tells us in Colossians 4:17, to continually carry out the ministry HE has given us until it is complete. Our willingness to fulfill our ministry is not based on whether we want to do it or not. In fact HE tells us in 1 Corinthians 9:17:

For if I do this voluntarily
I have a reward
But if against my will
I have a stewardship entrusted to me

What is a stewardship? It is a responsibility given/entrusted to HIS servants by our Beloved LORD JESUS. With it, we are called to manage HIS affairs until HIS return. As an example, there are two types of stewards. Both responsible for feeding our Beloved LORD’s household until HIS return (Mat 24:45-51, Luk 12:42-48, Jhn 21:15-17*). One was both faithful and sensible, doing HIS Master’s will (Mat 24:45-46, Luk 12:41-43). The other was evil, choosing to do his own will, thinking there was plenty of time to start doing the right thing (Mat 24:48-50, Luk 12:45-48). As you read the passages of Scripture concerning the evil slave, you should consider:
        a) The evil steward’s own conduct brought his type of punishment (Eze 7:27). Just as he had beaten our Beloved LORD’s people, he was beaten (Mat 24:49-51, Luk 12:45-48).
       b) The evil steward was part of our LORD’s household, had been given a stewardship, but his behavior demonstrated he was a hypocrite, an unbeliever. Consequently, he was sentenced to an eternal place in the lake of fire (Mat 24:51, Luk 12:46), with others who also appeared as righteous but were not (Mat 23:27-28, Mat 7:21-23)

You are a steward of the ministry HE entrusted you with, as well as the gifts HE has imparted into your life (Mat 25:14-30, Luk 19:11-27). Do not be deceived, we say again, you do not have the choice in whether to walk in your ministry or not. You are not now, and have never been your own boss (Act 26:18, Col 1:13, 1 Cor 6:19-20, Rom 14:7-8). Your choices do not control your life, they seal your destiny (Eze 9:9-10, Rom 2:6-8).

Finally, there may be some who will still ignore this warning. Trusting their ability to hear from GOD for themselves. And to you, we would issue a final warning through the testimony of a righteous King, King Josiah. Three hundred years before this young King sat upon the throne of David, our LORD sent HIS prophet to tell a wicked King, the abominable altar and abominable priests he had set up, would be cleaned up by King Josiah (1 Kin 13:1-2). Young King Josiah loved our GOD with all his heart, soul and might, and cleaned up idolatry, the occult, and reinstituted the Passover within Judah (2 Kin 23:24-25). But after all this, King Josiah died in a battle that was not his to fight because he refused to listen to a warning sent from the mouth of GOD (2 Chr 35:20-24).

“If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”
And HE was saying to them, “Take care what you listen to.
By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides.
“For whoever has, to him more shall be given
And whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him”
Mark 4:23-25

*In John 21:15-17, our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST ties HIS minister’s love for HIM to two levels. First, our love for HIM is demonstrated in our completely obeying and teaching HIS WORD, even if no other minister does (Jhn 21:15 ― “do you love ME more than these?”). Second, our love for HIM is demonstrated in our taking care (nourishing and guiding) the flock HE purchased with HIS own blood (Act 20:28). Additionally, we should note in John 21:15-17, the English words “tend and shepherd” are transliterated from the Greek words “Bóske” (NT:1006) and “Poímaine” (NT:4165) respectively. Both words means “feed”. So as a pastor, minister, or teacher, if you are not nourishing GOD’s people through The BIBLE, you are not doing HIS Will (1 Tim 4:13, 2 Tim 4:2).

Refreshed

Refresh my heart in CHRISTPreviously in Ezekiel 37:1-14, I shared how my Beloved LORD GOD miraculously restored dry bones to life. As I continued to meditate on that passage of Scripture, how my Beloved LORD GOD alone can restore hope and bring life forth from death, I began to reflect on HIS omnipotence. HE then spoke to me about another set of bones. The bones of Elisha (2 Kin 13:20-21).

Elisha died and his body was placed in a grave. All that remained of Elisha’s decayed body was bones at the time some Israelites were burying a dead man. However fear of a marauding band of Moabites, caused the burial team to hastily throw the dead man’s body into Elisha’s grave. When the body of the dead man touched Elisha’s bones, he came back to life and stood up on his feet.

One might be wondering, how a dead man could be thrown into the grave of Elisha and touch his bones. It is important to know that the graves of ancient Jews were not pits dug in the ground, like ours today. But their graves, were caves excavated in the side of a rock, with the opening of the cave shut by a heavy stone. During these times, when one died, their body was simply wrapped or swathed in grave-clothes, and placed within the cave (Jhn 11:44, Jhn 19:38-Jhn 20:1-7).

As I was pondering the fact, that even when only bones remained of Elisha’s body, the anointing of my Beloved LORD GOD’s Holy SPIRIT was still upon them; so much so, that the mere touch of them, brought a dead man back to life.

Wow, should not the omnipresence of our Beloved LORD GOD’s Holy SPIRIT within our lives have the same effect on others who come into contact with us (1 Jhn 2:27)? If HIS presence within us, is not reviving, refreshing, strengthening and encouraging the hearts and lives of all we interact with, we must examine ourselves (2 Cor 13:5). Please don’t let the enemy deceive you into thinking if it is not happening, it is no big deal. It is a very big deal! Because if The Holy SPIRIT of GOD is not abiding within you, you are walking in disobedience (Jhn 14:21, Jhn 14:23). And if you are walking in disobedience you are practicing lawlessness (1 Jhn 3:4). And if you are practicing lawlessness, your end is eternal separation from the very one you profess to know (Mat 7:21-23).
