Recently I was studying the behavior of ungodly men in these last days. As I examined people who were so sinful, filled with hatred, and hearts so hardened, they are completely controlled by Satan. They have become like beasts or unreasoning animals (2 Pet 2:12). The LORD turned my attention to two men in particular. These two men are recorded in The Book of Revelation, and are specifically identified as beasts (Rev 13:1-18). One of these men, will rule over all the earth (Rev 13:7). The other man will serve as his false prophet (Rev 19:20), causing those who do not know JESUS CHRIST to worship the first beast, who pretends to be CHRIST (Rev 13:12-15). Both of these men will be closely examined in another study “the antichrist and his false prophet”. But in this study, we will consider the description given to us about the false prophet (Rev 13:11), “he has two horns like a lamb, but speaks as a dragon”.

What does this description mean? “He has two horns like a lamb, but speaks as a dragon.” The false prophet having two horns like a lamb, indicates he will appear to be a gentle, kind, meek, humble man. Yet he speaks as a dragon. He will speak deceitful, harsh, evil things. He will speak as Satan. Our Beloved LORD GOD tells us Satan is a dragon. He is the great red dragon, the serpent of old, who is called the devil and Satan (Rev 12:3, Rev 12:7-9, Rev 20:2).

In what manner does Satan speak? He speaks through thoughts; through people; through media (or mass communication such as broadcasting, publishing, and the internet); through entertainment (activity that holds attention/interest by providing pleasure, delight, enjoyment, distraction i.e. television, movies, games, music…). No matter what form it comes in, anything that is contrary to Scripture, and causes you to doubt GOD, HIS WORD, HIS AUTHORITY, or HIS CHARACTER is the voice of Satan. Anything that causes you to think or speak evil of others is the voice of Satan. Anything that causes your eyes, your flesh, or your mind to seek the pleasures of this world for yourself, is the voice of Satan.

What does Satan speak? Let’s start by considering the ultimate purposes of Satan. He comes to steal, to kill, and destroy (Jhn 10:10). He does this through deception, manipulation, temptation, distraction, worry, fear, doubt, discouragement, depression, hopelessness… So whenever he speaks it will be to achieve his ultimate purposes. Satan will:

• Steal or cunningly take away by:
  • Lying. Intentionally make a false statement, or give a false impression, with the purpose of deceiving (Jhn 8:44, Gen 3:4-2 Cor 11:3, Rev 12:9).
  • Manipulation. To control or take advantage of in a way that is gradual or not easily noticed (Psa 1:1, Gen 13:5-13, Gen 19:1-11-Take note that Lot went from living in tents with his herds and herdsman, to living in a house in Sodom).
  • Enticement. To attract or tempt by offering pleasure or advantage (Pro 1:10, 2 Pet 2:18-19)
  • Flattery. Excessive and insincere praise, given especially to further one’s own interest (Psa 5:9, Psa 12:2, Pro 29:5, Luk 20:20-21, Jud 1:16).
• Kill or slaughter through:
  • Accusation. To charge with wrongdoing; to declare guilty (Gen 3:4-5, Zec 3:1, Rev 12:10).
  • Blame. The act of assigning responsibility or holding accountable for a fault or wrong (Act 21:18-30).
  • Condemnation. To prove or show the guilt of (Jhn 8:3-11).
  • Discouragement. To dishearten, cause one to lose confidence, enthusiasm or hope (Psa 42:5, Luk 18:1, Gal 6:9).
  • Intimidation. To make timid or fearful through threats or coercion in order to gain an advantage (Pro 29:25, Mat 10:28, Heb 2:14-15).
  • Temptation. To entice, or attempt one to do or acquire something that is attractive even though it is wrong (Mat 4:1-11, 1 Ths 3:5, Jam 1:13-14).
• Destroy or put out of the way entirely, to put an end to by employing:
  • Blasphemy. Is the deliberate and direct rebellion against GOD. Blasphemy happens when one either willfully disobeys (Num 15:30, Eze 20:27), or speaks in an insultingly, irreverent, contemptuous, or disrespectful manner about our Beloved LORD GOD (Lev 24:11, Dan 11:36, Rev 13:5-6). This sin causes men to doubt the existence or character of our Beloved LORD GOD.
  • Slander. Make false and damaging statements about someone to damage a person’s reputation (Psa 15:3, Isa 32:7, 1 Kin 21:11-20, Act 6:8-14).
  • Backbiting. Malicious talk about someone who is not present (Pro 25:23, Pro 26:20).
  • Gossip. Idle talk, rumor, or reports about the personal or private affairs of others (Rom 1:28-29, 1 Tim 3:11, 1 Tim 5:13).

In conclusion, if we listen to the voice of our Beloved LORD GOD (Deu 12:28), not set our eyes on any worthless thing (Psa 101:3, Isa 33:15); examine everything (1 Ths 5:21-22); cast down any speculation, reasoning, argument, or imagination that rises up against the knowledge of GOD (2 Cor 10:5); hold every thought captive (2 Cor 10:5); test every spirit to confirm it is from GOD (1 Jhn 4:1); and resist the devil (Jam 4:7), we will not be led astray by Satan’s voice. Sounds like quite a lot to do, but through faith, seek the help of JESUS. HE is able to make you do all things (Php 4:13) and to stand (Jude 1:24).

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth
But only such a word as is good for edification, according to the need of the moment
So that it will give grace to those who hear
