The Revelation of JESUS CHRIST
Which GOD gave HIM to show to HIS bond-servants
The things which must soon take place
And HE sent and communicated it by HIS angel to HIS bond-servant John
Who testified to THE WORD of GOD and to the testimony of JESUS CHRIST
Even to all that he saw
Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy
And heed the things which are written in it
For the time is near
Revelation 1:1-3
We open up this message to “take Heed” looking at a very distressed frog in a boiling pot of water. This picture is based on a metaphor conveying the thought “If the frog in the boiling pot, had been heeding the gradual change of the temperature in the pot, he would have been saved from injury or even death.”
Many of GOD’s people today, is that frog in the boiling pot. The LORD has continually sent messengers like me to tell HIS people they need to spend time with HIM, in prayer and study of HIS WORD. But they are too busy. Even now, the entire world has been shut down due to the coronavirus. People all over the globe have been forced by their governing authorities to remain in their places of residence, except for outings absolutely necessary for health, safety or welfare. But instead of taking this time to seek HIS face through prayer and study as individuals and families, social networking, television watching, online streaming, and video gaming has increased.
Because they don’t know GOD’s WORD, they are not taking heed to the things written. Nor are they aware that the things happening all around the world, are prophecies being fulfilled, signaling that the second coming of JESUS CHRIST is near (Rev 1:3, Rev 22:7-12).
For the last couple of months the news has daily reported on the coronavirus. Informing us that because of it, millions of people around the world have lost their jobs, hundreds of thousands have been infected, and thousands have died. But just three months ago the local, national and global news was filled with reports of fires burning down homes, entire neighborhoods, and 92 million acres of woodland, grassland and rainforest around the world. And before that, the world’s focus was on catastrophic weather events due to global warming. Along with all this, there has continually been reports of wars being fought around the world, continual gun violence, and escalating forms of crime. All spoken of in The BIBLE. And if GOD’s people would read HIS WORD they would understand why there is no reason for them to fear like the rest of the world (Isa 41:10).
What does it mean to take heed? It means to pay close attention to, to take careful notice of. Using the Message translation (a personal paraphrase of the Bible in English by Eugene Peterson from the original languages), we see Romans 13:11-14 says:
But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to GOD. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what GOD is doing! GOD is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in CHRIST, and be up and about!
In Hebrews 9:28 our Beloved LORD GOD tells us that our Precious JESUS CHRIST first came to this earth to save us from our sins, and that HE will come a second time to save those who eagerly await HIM from the wrath of GOD. Please don’t miss that only those who eagerly await HIM, are the ones who will be saved from GOD’s wrath.
What does it mean to “eagerly await” JESUS CHRIST? It means to be:
- expecting HIS return, like someone who stays on alert because news of a thief in the neighborhood (Mat 24:42-44, 2 Pet 3:10, 1 The 5:2-8, Rev 3:1-3)
- waiting for HIS return, like the ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom (Mat 25:1), or creation anxiously longing for the revelation of GOD’s true children (Rom 8:18-19, 1 Jhn 3:2)
- ready for HIS return, like the Israelites were the night death passed over every household in Egypt (Exd 12:11), or the five wise virgins who took along extra oil for their lamps (Mat 25:4, Luk 12:35-38, Ecc 9:8)
Many know the Gospel concerning JESUS CHRIST and why HE came to earth the first time (Mat 1:21, Jhn 1:29, Act 13:38-39), but not many know HE returns for HIS faithful saints to save them from GOD’s wrath (Zep 1:14-18, Rom 5:8-9, 1 The 1:10, 1 The 5:9) that will be revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Rom 1:18).
GOD is merciful to those who will forsake their sins and return to HIM (Isa 55:7), but out of love HE will discipline those who refuse to obey, though that discipline may grow more and more severe (Lev 26:14-39) until they turn from their evil ways (Lev 26:39-42). As it is not HIS desire for anyone to perish.
“And behold
I am coming quickly
Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book”
I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things
And when I heard and saw
I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things
But he said to me, “Do not do that. I am a fellow servant of yours
And of your brethren the prophets
And of those who heed the words of this book
Worship GOD”
And he said to me
Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book
For the time is near
Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong
And the one who is filthy, still be filthy
And let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness
And the one who is holy, still keep himself holy
Behold, I am coming quickly
And MY reward is with ME
To render to every man according to what he has done
Revelation 22:7-12
