In Proverbs 4:7 our LORD tells us to not only acquire wisdom be to get understanding. And in Matthew 13:19 and Matthew 13:23, HE shows us that having understanding is the difference between receiving no benefit from hearing The WORD of GOD, and both benefitting and experiencing abundant spiritual growth. So in obedience to The WORD and by help of The Holy SPIRIT of GOD let us seek to get full understanding of why our Savior JESUS CHRIST came to earth, by gaining knowledge of our Heavenly FATHER’s will for HIS coming, and what work HE had to complete.

Our Beloved JESUS HIMSELF tells us in John 6:38-40: 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do MY own will But the will of HIM who sent ME. 39 This is the will of HIM who sent ME, that of all that HE has given ME I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of MY FATHER, that everyone who beholds The SON and believes in HIM will have eternal life. And I MYSELF will raise him up on the last day. We will examine theses Scriptures in the next 3 studies.

In John 6:38, Scripture tells us that JESUS came from heaven to the earth, to do the will of The FATHER.

Why couldn’t JESUS do The FATHER’s will from heaven? Because HE needed to become human like us:
        1) To make atonement for sin or become reconciled to GOD (Dan 9:4, Rom 5:10, 2 Cor 5:18-19). All of mankind must bear the penalty for sin (Rom 5:12-14, Rom 6:23) because of Adam’s disobedience to the direct command GOD gave to him (Gen 2:16-17). Adam’s sin brought both physical and eternal death to all of mankind. JESUS CHRIST had to become flesh and blood like us, so that through HIS death the requirement for sin would be paid for all time for all mankind who would accept HIS sacrifice on their behalf (Heb 10:1-10, 1 Jhn 2:2, 1 Jhn 4:10).
        2) To be a merciful and faithful High Priest, WHO understands the human battle against sin (Heb 2:17-18, Rom 8:34, Heb 7:24-25).

Did JESUS always do The FATHER’s will? Always! During HIS lifetime HE never veered from doing the will of The FATHER. In every respect, HE did that for which HE was sent to do to the very agonizing end (Jhn 4:34, Jhn 5:30). Knowing the extreme suffering and horrendous death HE would endure our Beloved LORD JESUS CHRIST still suffered and died for us. In the garden of Gethsemane, HIS knowledge of what HE as a human would undergo for our salvation, brought on a very rare condition known as hematidrosis, or blood sweat, as described by the physician Luke (Luk 22:41-44). This condition only occurs when a person is under extreme physical or emotional stress. It has been documented in soldiers waiting to go into battle, or people awaiting execution. Yet HE finished the course!

Therefore when JESUS had received the sour wine
HE said, “It is finished!”
And HE bowed HIS head and gave up HIS spirit.
John 19:30
