Therefore The LORD longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore HE waits on high to have compassion on you.
For The LORD is a GOD of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for HIM.
Loneliness occurs both spiritually and physically. Often spiritual loneliness causes a person to experience the effects of physical loneliness.
Physical loneliness typically includes feelings of anxiousness, isolation, rejection, singleness, emptiness, discontent. It can be experienced even when surrounded by other people. When a person does not have a strong intimate relationship with our Beloved LORD GOD, one that provides peace and comfort regardless of the situation one might be in (2 Thes 3:16, Isa 26:3, Jhn 14:27, Jhn 16:33, Rom 8:6, Php 4:7―Psa 119:50-52, 2 Cor 1:3-4, 2 Cor 7:6); then certain life events will trigger physical loneliness. Events such as the lack of friendship, physical absence of meaningful people in one’s life, loss of a significant person in one’s life through death, divorce or simply the relationship ending.
Spiritual loneliness is an aching void in the middle of one’s being. It is a result of being disconnected from GOD because there is a lack of trust in HIM or HIS motives, disappointment (Jer 15:10-21), suffering (Job 23:8-10, Job 29:1-5, Psa 77:1-10), enduring persecution (Psa 25:16-22, Psa 143:3-4), or unresolved sin (Psa 31:9-10, Psa 32:3-7, Act 3:19-20). Spiritual loneliness will also occur when GOD’s Holy SPIRIT is calling for time with you (Isa 30:18, Jer 31:3, Hos 11:4).
Have you become so busy in your life that you have neglected to spend time with GOD? Our Beloved LORD JESUS gave us an example of two sisters, one whose focus was on earthly things, the other one was in HIS presence, listening to HIM speak (Luk 10:38-39). The sister focused on earthly things was distracted and frustrated (Luk 10:40), but our Beloved JESUS told her as HIS WORD tells us all, our focus should be on eternal not temporal things (Mat 6:25-33, Psa 27:8, Col 3:1-3, 1 Tim 4:8-10). We as faithful followers of CHRIST JESUS will always experience loneliness when our focus turns from our LORD to earthly things. Everything became vanity (Ecc 1:2, Ecc 1:12-14, Ecc 2:1-26) for King Solomon when he forsook our Beloved LORD GOD (1 Kin 11:1-3) and realized how temporal, empty, and unsatisfactory our lives here on earth are without HIM (Psa 144:4, Ecc 2:9-11, Ecc 12:1-8, Mat 16:26).
If you are experiencing loneliness for whatever reason, remember our LORD is a good GOD (Psa 86:5, Psa 100:5, Nah 1:7), WHO is The Lifter of our heads (Psa 3:3), HE is that FATHER scouring the horizon for you (Luk 15:20), so respond to HIS drawing you (SS 1:4).
GOD makes a home for the lonely;
HE leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
